Electricity cuts in our city are more regular than the water supply in our taps. Our roads are full of potholes. Poor city governance affects ALL OF US.
But here's a powerful chance to improve your city and your life.
To support the Jaagte Raho! campaign
On February 21, 2010, Bengaluru will vote for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) elections to elect ward-level Corporators. These are the leaders who will tackle all the water, garbage, sanitation and road problems in your neighbourhood, things that affect you on a day-to-day basis.
After running India's largest voter registration drive last year, we at Janaagraha (a non-profit organization) have launched the Jaagte Raho! campaign to encourage Bengaluru to vote. Jaagte Raho! is a long term initiative to inspire values of active citizenship in urban India by bringing out the vote for union, state and local elections; and by promoting participation in neighbourhood areas.
This is the campaign to support if you want to change Bengaluru. This is the campaign to support if you want to get your community out to vote.
