Dear Govardhan,

We have just three days to help the turtles. Over 13,000 people have already signed the petition asking Jairam Ramesh to take a stand on the gross violation of the Forest Conservation Act[1] by the Dhamra port in Orissa. But the ministry has not budged.

Based on letters issued by its own officials, a case was filed against the Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Orissa government in October last year. Till now they have not filed a response.

On Monday the Supreme Court's Central Empowered Committee will hear this case.

Can you add more signatures to this petition asking Jairam Ramesh to take a stand by Monday?

The petition says: "Jaago Re Jairam Ramesh! Take a stand and make your Ministry’s position known on the Dhamra forest act violation."

This petition will be delivered to Mr. Ramesh and more signatures will put more pressure on the Minister to act.

The Dhamra port is located near the Gahirmatha and Bitharkanika Protected Areas and poses a threat to the environment and endangered species like the Olive Ridley Sea turtles and saltwater crocodiles.

Minister Ramesh needs to stand up for the law and prove that he is not on the side of big business, and against the environment.

Sign the petition and ask the minister to wake up:

Thanks a billion!
